Manchester City has officially completed the transfer of Algerian full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

"The 24-year-old has signed a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium, keeping him at Manchester City until the summer of 2030," the club said in a statement on Tuesday.

Ait-Nouri impressed during the 2023/24 season, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in 41 games. This makes him one of the most productive left-backs in the Premier League.

Ait-Nouri said he was happy and proud to be joining one of the world's best clubs and was looking forward to being coached by Pep Guardiola.

'City is one of the best clubs in the world, so having this opportunity is a dream come true. I can't wait to learn from Pep Guardiola and train and play with world-class players," he said.

Ait-Nouri's arrival is expected to solve City's long-standing problem of finding a suitable left-back, a position that has been vacant since Benjamin Mendy left in 2021.

He is set to join City's squad in time for the 2025 Club World Cup, which begins on 18 June.

This transfer marks Manchester City's first step towards improving their performance last season, when they finished third and lost in the FA Cup final.

With new players such as Tijjani Reijnders and potentially Rayan Cherki joining the team, City are poised to resume their place among the top competitors.
