Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard believes that one of his teammates is already ‘one of the best in the world’ and still has room to improve further.
The Gunners have made a solid, if at times unspectacular, start to the season, but still look well-positioned heading into the November international break.
A dramatic late winner against Newcastle United last weekend saw Arsenal move within two points of league leaders Liverpool after their defeat to Crystal Palace.
And Mikel Arteta’s side could go top of the table this weekend should they beat West Ham and Liverpool drop points away at Chelsea.
As ever, Arsenal’s good form has been underpinned by their defensive solidity, with the north London side conceding only three goals so far this season – the joint-fewest alongside Palace.

At the heart of that record is the partnership between Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba, which looks set to continue for many years to come after both committed to new long-term deals at the Emirates.
And Trossard was keen to sing the praises of the Frenchman Saliba, who he believes can go on to become one of the world’s best centre halves, given time and continued focus.
‘First of all, he is a great human being,’ Trossard said of Saliba to Sky Sports. ‘He’s a funny guy, and yeah, on the pitch, I think he’s one of the best in the world at the moment.
‘He’s so calm on the ball and then off the ball, it’s so hard to get past him. He’s strong, he’s quick, he has basically everything.
‘He just needs to focus every single game, and I think then he can be the best in the world in his position.
‘If he is actually on it every single game and he pushes himself there, I think he can be [the best centre back in the world]. He has all the attributes for it.’
Speaking shortly after signing his new deal at the Emirates, Saliba insisted that his desire to win silverware with Arsenal was a key factor in agreeing his new deal.
‘I’m so happy to sign a new deal with my club. I hope to keep going like this with the team to win some trophies,’ he said.
‘The only thing that we’re missing here is winning trophies. We all believe in the project and the future.
‘We have a good squad, good staff and a good coach, so we are close to that shifting. We have to keep going like we are to make sure that we’re going to win some trophies.’
