Bologna has rejected Arsenal's offer to acquire defender Riccardo Calafiori. According to the Football Italia page, Bologna considers Arsenal's offer too cheap.
Bologna rejected Arsenal's €45 million plus Jakub Kiwior offer. Bologna confirmed that the Italian national team player's price reached €50 million. In addition, Bologna is also not willing to pay involving other players.
Although Bologna is interested in Kiwior, they plan to pursue the Pole outside the Calafiori deal.
In addition to rejecting Arsenal's offer, Bologna is also negotiating with FC Basel in Switzerland regarding a commission for the sale of Calafiori.
Calafiori joined Bologna in the summer of 2023 from FC Basel for 4 million euros. The contract contains a clause that the Swiss club will receive half of the sale of the 22-year-old.
Bologna is negotiating this clause with Basel to reduce Calafiori's sales commission.
Some time ago, according to The Athletic, Arsenal must first sell some of their mainstays to get Calafiori. Kiwior is indeed one of the players that Mikel Arteta wants to release. Another player is Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Calafiori fits Arteta's style of play, able to release passes from outside the defence well. Kiwior and Zinchenko are no longer part of Arteta's plans.
The money raised from the sale of both will be allocated to secure Calafiori's signature.
